HRH The Duke of Edinburgh: Celebration Dinner

A Dinner was held at Fishmongers’ Hall on Tuesday 28th June 2011 in the Gracious Presence of Her Majesty The Queen to celebrate the 90th birthday anniversary of HRH The Duke of Edinburgh.

The Dinner was jointly hosted by the Fishmongers’ Company (of which Prince Philip has been a member since 1947 and was Prime Warden in 1961-1962) and the following other City organisations with which His Royal Highness has particularly strong associations:

The City of London Corporation
The Worshipful Companies of Mercers, Musicians, Shipwrights and Coachmakers
The Honourable Company of Master Mariners
The Guild of Air Pilots and Air Navigators
The Worshipful Companies of Marketors, Engineers and Environmental Cleaners
The Society of Merchant Venturers of Bristol
The Bank of England
The Baltic Exchange

HRH The Princess Royal, Liveryman of the Fishmongers’ Company, also attended the Dinner. The Lord Mayor was represented by Alderman Lord Levene of Portsoken.

The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh were welcomed with a new Fanfare, specially commissioned for the occasion by the Musicians’ Company.

The Gresham’s School Choir, Director of Music Mr Mark Jones FRCO GRSM ARCM, sang during the evening.

The Ancient Society of College Youths rang a “full peal” of the bells of the church of St Magnus the Martyr to mark the occasion.
