Debate on Aquaculture

10/7/2010 5:30:00 PM

On Monday 4th October the Fishmongers’ Company in conjunction with the Chartered Institute of Water and Environment Management (CIWEM) arranged a seminar at Fishmongers’ Hall to debate the motion: “This House believes that UK Aquaculture should at least double by 2020”. There were four mini-debates covering salmon, trout, shellfish and emerging species. The aim was to explore the arguments for and against expanding aquaculture. The audience had the opportunity to participate in the debates and to vote on the motion both at the start of proceedings and at the end, to show whether they had been persuaded by the arguments put forward during the day.
